Principles of Design Part 2: Emphasis and Pattern/Repetition

 Emphasis

Creating a focal point or making something stand out, directs our attention and creates a hierarchy of importance in the image.









Pattern + Repetition

Patterns are a series of elements that are repeated in a predictable manner, creating a sense of order and harmony. Repetition repeats a specific element or motif in a design, emphasizes relationships and enhances memory retention - reminds us of who we are dealing with or where we are.

You have 15 minutes to create a mini collage that shows EMPHASIS and another 15 minutes to create a mini collage that shows PATTERN/REPETITION.
