Climate Justice Part 1 - Exploring a Marine Environment and Practicing our Drawing @MS95

Jason DeCaires Taylor's Underwater Museum:

Maybe if the ocean were considered a museum full of precious artwork, we might treat it differently.

Underwater Subway Cars:

+ How does it feel to see this stuff in the ocean?
+ Do you think the sea life appreciates it?
+ What do sea creatures need to feel safe?
+ What kinds of things do you need to feel safe?
+ Would you make your home in one of these places if you lived in the ocean?
+ What would you want to say to people if you lived in the ocean?

Today's Task: Practice drawing Fish!

+ How can we use simple shapes to help us draw?
+ What kind of details does your fish need? Stripes? Fins? Scales? Gills? Eyelashes?
+ Do we need to include some of their homes/habitat?
+ What other things are in this environment that we should include in our practice?

Today is all about drawing fish and covering our paper with different kinds, and including things that feel important to show where our fish live. Next week we'll step into the creepy stuff, so save it up!
